The Spinal Cord Injury Community Survey
How does BC compare to the rest of Canada?
To date, the SCI Community Survey is the largest Canadian study of persons living with SCI (1562 participants). This survey is an important landmark for the SCI community as it provides information on the need for services, access to services, barriers experienced and the association with community outcomes (e.g., secondary complications, social participation and quality of life). By including individuals with traumatic and non-traumatic SCI, it provided insight into the secondary complications and expressed needs and how these differ based on injury type.
This presentation will compare the data from the BC participants to the national data and discuss how the results can assist SCI stakeholders implement promising practices to enhance service delivery for persons living with SCI in BC.
About the Speaker
Dr. Luc Noreau, Ph.D is full professor at the Rehabilitation Department, Laval University, and Scientific Director at the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Rehabilitation and Social Integration (CIRRIS), Quebec City.
